Introduced more than a decade ago, it is one of the rare boxy SUVs that lasts long enough to get a second overhaul. For this occasion, we are about to see a lot of novelties.
The new model comes with plenty of changes, both in terms of styling and mechanics. Speaking of the styling, the new models continue the evolution of a super-boxy lifestyle vehicle that both looks attractive and delivers solid practicality. On the other side, mechanics are completely new, so you can count on new engines, new chassis setup and much more.
The new, third generation of this small crossover had its premiere at the previous LA Auto Show. According to the company’s officials, the new model is ready for production and should hit the market sometime in the second quarter of the year.
2024 Kia Soul Engines
The powertrain lineup will consist of two engines. There is a new 2.0-liter engine that is reserved for base versions, which delivers around 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, which comes with either manual or CVT gearbox. Such amount seems more than enough for a daily ride. Still, many drivers would prefer something peppier. The company also offers a familiar 1.6-liter turbo-four engine, which is good for 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes in pair with a quick-responding 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
An all-electric version is expected to arrive soon. All models will feature front-wheel drive.
2024 Kia Soul Redesign
As we already mentioned, this redesign brings lots of novelties. One of the most important novelties is in terms of dimensions. The new model is slightly bigger, with 2 more inches in overall lengths and additional 1.2 inches in the wheelbase. On the other side, height and width remained practically the same. Despite the bigger size, the 2024 Kia Soul remains in the same segment, as a lifestyle alternative to more common subcompact crossovers.
When it comes to styling, things are pretty familiar. This redesign didn’t include any radical change. The new 2024 Kia Soul continues with a familiar boxy shape, but with a plethora of new details.
Of course, most of them are at the front end, where you can notice a giant grille that spreads over the bumpers and takes most of the front face. Headlights are narrower, with LED technology. From the side, the 2024 Kia Soul gets a little bit more muscular, so you can easily notice a little bit more massive fender flares and similar areas. The wheels are also bigger.
The rear end comes in a typical Soul manner. An almost vertically-positioned tailgate provides that boxy shape at the back, which makes this crossover not just look interesting, but also very practical.
2024 Kia Soul Interior
To be honest, we expected more from the 2024 Kia Soul when it comes to the interior design. The main disappointment is the fact that the new models aren’t particularly more spacious. Despite the longer wheelbase and overall length, the new model doesn’t offer much more legroom, nor cargo space. Still, the cargo area is more practical than before, mainly because of a wider tailgate, which allows loads and unloads of bigger objects than before.
When it comes to the overall cabin design, improvements are obvious. The new model looks more upscale. The new model includes some soft-touch surfaces as well, so we could say that a cheap-looking interior isn’t one of the characteristics of this crossover anymore. Of course, there is also a whole palette of new tech goodies, starting from a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen, which comes with a very user-friendly infotainment system, with plenty of functions.
Another great thing about the 2024 Kia Soul is a new trim level designation. Things aren’t that complicated anymore, as the new model will come with more common names, such as LX, S, X-Line, GT-Line, and EX. 2024 Kia Soul Safety
In terms of the safety, most versions will come standard with the company’s Drive Wise suite of advanced systems. This package includes driver aid’s like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-change assist, driver-drowsiness monitor and much more. Most of them will be standard features in lower trim levels.
2024 Kia Soul Release Date and Price
The new 2024 Kia Soul had a premiere a couple of months ago and should hit the market soon. According to the latest reports, the new model will arrive in the second quarter of the year. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 19.000 dollars.
