Engine

The company claims that the VC-Turbo 4-cylinder could easily be “the world’s most advanced engine”. The 2.0-liter variable-compression turbocharged inline-4 powertrain can produce 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The engine is also capable of changing the stroke of the pistons and by that varying compression as needed. This will benefit the power as well as the efficiency of the 2024 Infiniti QX50. The VC-Turbo record some instances of lag upon hard acceleration, but from the driver’s point of view, the overall performance is very good. The company decided to go with this technology to pursuit the greater fuel efficiency, and they measure that the QX50 will achieve up to 27 mpg combined.

Still, if the fuel economy is you prior, you can engage the Eco mode, via a drive-mode selector. It has an annoying tendency to add resistance to the accelerator pedal. The Infiniti QX50, a luxury crossover SUV and the flagship of the Japanese company Nissan will get a significant number of changes for the 2024 model. The new Infiniti will keep only the name of the previous model, and everything else is gon na get a makeover and major upgrades. The 2024 Infiniti QX50 will be one of the first SUVs that will use a variable-compression (VC) turbocharged 4-cylinder powertrain. Safety and convenience features are much improved, especially on the higher trim levels.

As for the exterior, the new thin and well-built skin will bring a similar visual impact to the QX50, like one we can see on QX30, and a 3-row QX60. Surely, the focal points of the new look are a voluptuous hood and the boomerang-like chrome treatment of the C-pillar. Up front, you’ll find large honeycomb grille, more prominent and eye-catching than before. The famous Infiniti badge is right in the middle of the grille. On the sides of the touch screen, there are even more control buttons for temperature, fan speed, and the optional heated and ventilated front seats. It’s a nice shift from fully touch-based controls.

The users may be confused by the nub of a gear selector, and the P button below, that needs to be pressed for parking. The standard equipment includes a power tailgate, 8-way-power front seats, LED highlights, dual-zone climate control and Infiniti’s Predictive Forward Collision Warning. The basic infotainment system is a twin-screen setup with a 6-speaker audio system.

The Bluetooth and a USB input are available. The 2019 QX50 model didn’t have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Now, they will be part of the standard equipment. And, if you choose the Luxe trim you’ll get a power-operated panoramic moonroof, LED fog lights, auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink universal garage-door opener and blind-spot monitoring.

The 2024 Infiniti QX50 will have an MSRP starting at $37,700 for an entry-level, front-wheel-drive model. Next, the midtrim Luxe model starts around $40,400. The topline Essential model adds a leather interior, navigation, the Around View bird’s-eye rearview camera system, heated side mirrors and comes with a price tag just over $44,000. The Essential exclusively offer ProPilot Assist features. Standard equipment for the Essential trim includes a head-up display, tri-zone climate control, and a 17-speaker premium Bose audio system.

If you add the Autograph package, you’ll get leather seating and elegant blue Ultrasuede interior trim. The all-wheel-drive will add an extra $1,800, regardless of trim level. With these set of prices, the 2024 QX50 costs less than the competitors like Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo XC60, and BMW X3. The official release date is not yet confirmed. We expect the debut of new Infiniti at 2024 North American International Auto Show.
